Savannah Guthrie is recovering from vocal cord surgery.
Guthrie, 54, shared a health update via Instagram on Monday, Jan. 5, she posted a photo of herself wearing black-rimmed glasses and holding a sign with the message: “All good! Thanks for the prayers and love!”
In an accompanying title, the today The anchor told her followers, “See you soon!”
Guthrie’s friends and fans posted messages of support in the comments section.
“Feeling better my babyxxxx,” she wrote Hoda Kotbwhile Sheinelle Jones — who recently succeeded Kotb, 61, as a cohost in the fourth hour of NBC’s morning show — dropped four heart emojis.
One fan wrote: “Keep that board coming! The hard part is not whispering or talking…”.
As part of her recovery, the TV reporter must not use her voice for several weeks. She had reported todaythe December 19 hearing that she was take a temporary break from the show to treat his vocal cords.
“Some of you have noticed that my voice has been really scratchy and it’s starting to break a little bit like Peter Brady, who was going through a change,” Guthrie joked, adding: “Well, I found out what it is. I have vocal nodules and now I have a polyp as well. It’s not a big, big deal, but I’m going to have a couple of years of surgery very soon. My last day for a while So I just want to let everyone know, and If you were wondering, I have the longest head in the world, don’t I?
At the time, he told Jones, 47, and the cohosts Craig Melvin i Al Roker“You guys are going to love this. I have to be quiet for a couple of weeks, totally quiet. Christmas is coming early for my family.”
Jones told Guthrie he had vocal cord surgery five years earlier.
“The silver lining is you’re allowed to be still,” he said. “The house becomes quiet. The children will want to help you.”
Jones then showed Guthrie the white board he used when he was recovering from his operation.
“I know. I’ll tell you, ‘No, you can’t eat candy in your bedroom,'” Guthrie joked about how she would communicate with her daughter Vale, 11, and son Charley, 9, who she shares with husband. Michael Feldman.
Guthrie said she was “very excited about (the procedure). This has been going on for years, honestly.”
When Jones pointed out that Guthrie could come out of surgery with one Celine Dioncaliber singing voice, Guthrie joked, “It’s so funny. I used to be able to sing, and then I couldn’t sing anymore, and then I couldn’t talk anymore, so who knows?”
Guthrie joined todayin 2011 and has since had three eye surgeries, including one to repair his retina after an eye injury in 2019 and cataract surgery in 2020.
“Seeing all the colors a little brighter today 🌸,” she wrote in an Instagram update following the latter procedure. “I’m so thankful that my surgery was a success! I’m still healing, but I’m already noticing a major improvement in my vision. My eyes are filled with tears of joy!”
