January 2026 will be a good month for anyone looking for new TV shows.

However, it will be a quiet period for movies apart from a couple of sci-fi films that hit theaters in 2025.

5. ‘Ash’ (2025)

Ash is a sci-fi/horror film that flew under the radar during its brief theatrical release last year. But for a low-budget film, it has real style, as well as the star power of its two leads, Eiza Gonzalez i Aaron Paul. Gonzalez stars as Riya Ortiz, an astronaut who wakes up on a deep space research station with her crew dead and little memory of what happened or how she got there.

Paul plays Brion Cargyle, a man who claims he was sent to rescue Riva from a distress signal she sent. But with her memory on the fritz, Riva is paranoid and suspicious of Brion and his intentions. He may have good reason to be suspicious as his memories begin to return. But if Riva can’t trust Brion, then this space station may prove to be her grave.

4. ‘Tron: Ares’ (2025)
