Break Amish Alum transported to hospital for possible liver failure


Breaking Amish alum Jeremiah Raber has assured her TikTok followers that she is on the mend after a few scary days.

“Thank you so much to all the people who have prayed for me. I really appreciate it,” Raber, 42, wrote to followers. through TikTok on Friday, January 2.

Raber previously made several alarming posts via social media, some of which showed him in a hospital bed. On December 30, Raber said he had “possible liver failure” and was “waiting to be transferred alive to another hospital”.

At the time, Raber told his followers that his blood sugar level was “993,” which is dangerously high and potentially fatal, according to The Cleveland Clinic. The clinic states that blood sugar levels below 100 are “normal fasting blood sugar levels,” while 126 or higher may indicate a person has diabetes.

Later on December 30, Raber has shared still photos of himself being laid out in a waiting helicopter, presumably to be transported to another medical facility for further treatment.

A third fan encouraged Raber to put her health first, writing, “Take care of yourself! Take care before (stress) over anything! Take care of yourself because no one else can. You know what I mean? Stay healthy. Please!”

Raber previously revealed that he was suffering from serious health issues in March 2024. At the time, Raber thanked his TikTok followers for donating “enough money to go to the doctor for (his) heart problem and stuff.”

“Hopefully I’ll be at the doctor soon and get checked out,” he promised his followers. “I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.”

Weekly InTouch reported in April 2024 that the reality star spent two days in the hospital for heart problems and diabetic ketoacidosis. Raber was one of the rising stars of TLC‘s Breaking Amish when it premiered in 2012. The docuseries followed Amish and Mennonite youth as they ventured outside their religious communities to experience life in New York City for the first time.

Before the first season aired, Raber had separated from his first wife, Naomi Stutzmanwith whom he shares three children. He later returned to the franchise for 2014 Back to Amish and remained part of the main cast for seven seasons.

Back to AmishThe third season finale, which aired in August 2016, followed Jeremiah and his second wife, Carmela Méndez Raberon their wedding day. Both had multiples very public breakups and reconciliations in the following years, until Carmela filed a restraining order against Jeremiah in March 2022.
