A Louisiana woman has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing her one-year-old son on New Year’s Day.
According to the Sulfur Police Department spokesman Major Jason Gullypolice responded to a call to Kristin Bass at home after 8pm on Thursday January 1st. When they arrived, authorities discovered that the mother had allegedly shot her little girl, Acelynn Moss.
Bass, 28, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is currently behind bars with bail set at $10 million.
The girl’s father Bradley Mosshe was at home at the time of the alleged incident. After claiming to hear a loud noise that was later confirmed to be the gun in question, the father said he immediately entered the room and allegedly discovered Acelynn had been shot. Bass was still carrying a gun when the father arrived at the scene.
Authorities in Maryland have arrested a 24-year-old mother for the murder of her 5-week-old daughter. Maryland State Police confirm Destiny Faith Chiveral, who lives in Charlestown, was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse resulting in death. While talking to KPLC-TVMoss noted that her 2-year-old son was also in the home at the time and had screamed for help.
“I almost lost two babies. I lost one because her mother wanted to send her to God,” she stated on the network. “(My oldest daughter) said, ‘Help me, Dad.’ And Kristin said, “I just sent our baby to God. She said: ‘Now I have to look for him'”.
Moss confirmed that the Department of Children and Family Services had custody of the surviving child after the incident. The child’s condition is unclear at this time. Bass’ exact motive for the alleged murder of his daughter is also currently unknown.
According to the Office of the Parish of Calcasieufollowing her arrest, Bass was also charged with “direct contempt of court,” but the details of the charge remain unclear at press time.
Louisiana State Legislature describes direct contempt as an act “committed in the immediate sight and presence of the court and of which he has personal knowledge; or, a contemptuous failure to comply with a subpoena, summons, or order to appear in court, proof of service of which is on record; or, a contemptuous failure to comply with an order to sequester a witness.”
It includes, but is not limited to, “the flagrant violation of an order excluding, sequestering, or sequestering a witness,” the use of “insulting, abusive, or discourteous language by a lawyer or other person in open court,” “insolent or disorderly conduct toward the judge or a lawyer or other officer of the court,” or “violent disturbance of the peace,” or “disturbance of the peace.” disrupt or interfere with the business of the court or impair its dignity or respect for its authority,” or the violation of a “rule of the court adopted to maintain order and decorum in the courtroom.”
