Lucy Hale celebrates 4 years of sobriety after hitting rock bottom


Lucy Hale is commemorating a milestone in his sobriety journey with a heartwarming post on social media.

The Pretty Little Liars student, 36, taken to social networks on Friday, January 2 to share an emotional update on her health journey.

“4 years ago, I came to a very dark chapter and my personal rock bottom. It’s wild to say, but it ended up being the biggest gift and turning point of my life,” she wrote via Instagram.

Hale continued, “The road has not always been smooth. There has been pain, discomfort, loneliness and a deep confrontation with myself. But sobriety gave me my life back. I am deeply grateful for every moment that has brought me to this point.”

The actress ended the post with a message of hope for others struggling with similar issues.

“If you are struggling, please know this: there is always a chance to start over. Keep going. Keep speaking your truth. Ask for help. And remember that you are so worthy of a life you are proud of. Your existence matters, and so does the story you carry. Get better ❤️,” she wrote.

“I’ve realized that darkness isn’t always something to be afraid of. It’s often what leads us to the light.”

Supporters flooded the comments section with words of support, including Hale’s ex PLL cost, Tyler Blackburn39, who wrote, “I’m so proud of you! ❤️”

Ashley Newbrough38, who starred alongside Hale on The CW drama privilegedechoed a similar sentiment as she wrote: “You radiant thing ❤️ beyond proud of you.”

“Damn. 3 years ago today, I started my journey to remember who I am,” Hale captioned her post in January 2025. “Since then, I’ve experienced moments that can only be described as pure miracles and magic. I’m deeply grateful every day, for the people who have been guiding the lights, for a power greater than myself and who loves me for not giving up on me and me forever, without giving up on all of me. you who have supported my journey, I have felt your love and that means everything to me”.

Hale also opened up about her health journey during an appearance on a February 2023 episode of “The Diary of a CEO.”

“I have been working to get sober since he was 20 years old. I’m 33. It takes time. It took time. I was patient with myself,” she said at the time.

She added that she was only able to make a lasting change when she decided to get sober for herself and not for external reasons.

“I tried to change for boyfriends. I tried to change for my mom. I tried to change for my career. I tried to change for useless reasons. ‘I’m going to stop drinking for this.’ None of that works. I had to get sober and I wanted to,” Hale said. “Because I said, ‘I deserve more.’ I deserve more from this life. I have to try another way. And I have to be willing to commit to it.”
