Boston BlueThe new episode of ‘s really hit home Donnie WahlbergThe character of Danny, who was moved by his relationship with his son Sean.
During the Friday, December 12 episode of the hit CBS series, Danny (Wahlberg) and Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green) were put on a case involving a small boy who saw his father killed. Danny was visibly shaken and continued to drive because of his personal connection to the incident.
He was able to solve the case by the end of the episode, which only made Danny want to call his son Sean (Mika Amonsen) – and Father Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) — even more once the job is done. Boston Blue has discussed Danny’s attempts to mend his previously strained relationship with his son.
Danny’s trip to New York was featured on CBS Blue Bloodwhich ran from 2010 to 2024. The spin-off, which premiered in October, began with Danny visiting Boston after Sean ended up in a coma. This version of Sean looked a little different after the role was previously interpreted by Andrew Terraciano.
“There’s been some negativity, for sure,” Amonsen exclusively said Us Weekly last month to take office. “But when I look at the posts that have the negativity, there are a lot of fans rallying around Sean and people saying they really liked this character that I created, or my version of the character.”
Amonsen pointed this out he wanted to do Blue Blood fans happy with his performance, saying, “They’re really enjoying the show and they love where it’s going with Sean and that makes me happy.”

The actor recalled hearing “a ton of pressure” about the situation.
“I felt the pressure to respect an actor before me because I wanted to respect Andrew as best I could. There were even certain visual choices that I made that I wanted to keep in terms of the hair style and certain ways of being (as Sean),” he continued. “I really want to keep Sean as close as possible in the ways that I do out of respect for this character that everyone loves, but also for the character that Andrew built.”
He continued: “When I booked the show, it all happened very quickly. It was within a week and I got into it very quickly. I watched as much as I could and found that doing the later seasons was more helpful. I wanted to get a sense of who Sean was towards the end of the show. I really wanted to get a sense of his character and his relationship with Danny at that point.”
Terraciano, on the other hand, broke his silence we about the shake
“I had someone call me, actually the day I was graduating, and they had talked to my mom and she called me (crying). They said, ‘They might be looking for a different Sean,'” Terraciano shared with we in December about the change to the screen. “Shortly after I got the news, Donnie called me. It was a really nice moment to hear from an old friend, but also someone you respect a lot and learned a lot from.”
Terraciano expressed his gratitude for his time Blue blood.
“It’s beautiful because you’ll always remember every line and every day that you had the opportunity to be that character,” she shared. “It doesn’t mean for a second that someone else can’t go and do something beautiful with it.”
Terraciano continued, “I had the joy of playing Sean and I got to send him out into the world. Now someone else has that joy. We both want to show what we do and then send Sean out into the world.”
Boston Blue airs Fridays on CBS at 10pm ET.
