Jordan Firstman is not among the many fans of Heated rivalry.
Firstman, 34, hit the hit HBO Max series, which he stars in Hudson Williams i Connor Storrie as hockey players involved in a steamy relationship off the ice, during an interview with vulture published on Thursday, December 11.
vulture‘s Jason P. Frank asked Firstman, who plays Charlie Cohen on the HBO comedy I love LAabout a “legitimately casual” sex tape story from that show, calling it “a contrast to something like Heated rivalrywhich is so planned”.
The actor replied: “Yeah, let’s get it. He’s gay. Sorry, I watched those first two episodes of Heated rivalry and he’s just not gay. That’s not how gays fuck. There are very few things that show gay sex.”
Frank told Firstman he was thinking about his 2023 movie Rotting in the sun “It was probably the best gay movie of the decade in terms of being honest about what gay life is like.”
“But they want to see Heated rivalry“Firstman countered. I go to art to be confronted and to think, but a lot of people just want entertainment or to see two straight hockey players pretending to be gay and fucked.”

HBOFrank mentioned that none of the stars have “talked about their sexuality, so anyone could be gay.”
Firstman replied: “So you know what? I’m one of those bitches that says, ‘So, say it.’ A gay guy would say that. I don’t respect you because you care too much about your career and what if people think you’re gay.”
Francois Arnaudwhich portrays athlete Scott Hunter Heated rivalryaddressed Firstman’s remarks in a comment via Instagram on Friday, December 12, writing: “Is there only one way to have ‘real’ gay sex on TV? Should the sex of closeted hockey players look like the sex of stage LA gays?”
Meanwhile, Williams, 24, reposted Arnaud’s comment on her Instagram Stories and kindly commented, “but really go see ‘I Love LA’! Jordan and the cast are awesome!!”
Heated rivalry became an instant hit when it debuted in late November. Jacob Tierney created the six-episode series based on Rachel Reid‘s game changer books, and on December 12, it was renewed for a second season.
Williams plays Shane Hollander and Storrie, 25, is Ilya Rozanov.
“They basically aired at the same time. We were very clear that we had to get Shane and Ilya together,” Tierney said. outside last month “This show lives and dies with them, so we had to make sure that worked together. There are great actors who are there, you know… They’re just in different shows. You have to find the people who are going to be in the same show together, and that’s what they both had instantly.”
Earlier this month, Tierney, 46, close a question about the actor’s real-life sexualities, telling LGBTQ+ magazine xtra“I don’t think there’s any reason to go into these things. I’ll tell you something about the casting of these two roles. You can’t ask questions like that when you’re casting, can you? In fact, it’s against the law. So what you have to measure is someone’s enthusiasm and willingness to do the job.”
He added: “And that’s what’s so impressive about these two guys is that they got to be like, ‘Yeah, we’re here to do it and we’re here to make this story feel authentic and as real as possible.’ They hit it out of the park.”
