A Niagara Falls Wreck and the rescue that saved two Americans

The iron scow, a 107-year-old wharf that has lain atop Niagara Falls since 1918, is shifting as it approaches and slowly disintegrates.

Destroyed more than a hundred years ago, when two men were about to fall, the horse gave up, SCOW became a powerful symbol of the history of the fall and natural strength.

In 2022, the barge broke into several parts due to excavation. Last month, the bow of the seizure was stolen and moved further down, and the boat is now “slowly deteriorating,” according to Jim Hill of Niagara Parks.
