Charges filed against former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore have been confirmed after he was arrested and fired from his position.
Moore was charged with home invasion and two misdemeanors on Friday, Dec. 12, in Ann Arbor, Michigan District Court 14A-1, according to court records.
The formal charges are felony third-degree felony home invasion, misdemeanor domestic harassment and felony breaking and entering. A formal arraignment on the charges is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Moore, 39, had accused of “attacking” a woman at the address of a Michigan football employee on Wednesday, Dec. 10, per a 911 dispatch obtained by TMZ Sports the next day. The woman then claimed that Moore had been “stalking her for months.”
Dispatch received the phone call at approximately 4:00 pm on Wednesday. The authorities arrived at the scene at 4:10 p.m. “with the aim of investigating an alleged assault” and subsequently arrested a personaccording to the Pittsfield Police Department. Detroit news it was later confirmed that Moore was the person arrested. He was booked into the Washtenaw County Jail at 8:30 p.m. and spent the night behind bars.

Shortly after the alleged incident, the University of Michigan issued a statement Wednesday at 4:34 p.m. announcing Moore’s firing.
“UM head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” the athletic director said Warde Manuel he said in a statement at the time. “Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy and UM maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”

Raj Mehta/Getty ImagesAccording to the Pittsfield Police Department, the alleged incident involving Moore “does not appear to be random in nature” and there does not appear to be an “ongoing threat to the community.”
Meanwhile, an investigation into Moore is “ongoing.”
“Given the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation and its current status at this time, we are prohibited from releasing additional details,” authorities said. “Further details about the incident will be released as soon as possible.”
Amid speculation about the charges against Moore, journalist John U. Bacon reported that the school conducted an investigation over the summer, at which time both Moore and the staff member denied that “anything happened between them.” However, the employee’s story “changed” the morning of Moore’s arrest.
ESPN Insider Adam Schefterfor his part, he claimed that a recent investigation into Moore found “no evidence of wrongdoing” despite weeks of “whispers and speculation about various gossipy and salacious articles with the school.”
He continued: “But if the school is going to take the step Wednesday that it did, and announce that it will fire Sherrone Moore for cause, and say she had an inappropriate relationship with an employee, then clearly something happened this week that the school felt it had irrefutable evidence of and was left with no other option.”

Moore became the head coach of the Wolverines in January 2024. He had just completed his second season in the role when he was fired.
As for his personal life, Moore has been married to the woman Kelly Moore since 2015. The couple share three daughters.
