John Stamos is inside Dave Couliercorner following the actor’s second diagnosis of cancer.
“And this guy? He’s my hero, he’s my No. 1 inspiration,” Stamos, 62, said during an interview on the Friday, Dec. 12, episode. today show
Stamos went on to share that he met with his folks ancient Full House to cost recently “I was with him last weekend and he’s great,” she continued. “It’s Dave and he’s beautiful. It sounds weird, but if someone has to go through this, it’s good because he can really inspire and speak to the world and show that with good will and love, you can get through it.”
host Craig Melvin then remarked that Coulier’s “eyes light up” when talking about Stamos, who joked, “I think he’s in love with me.”

Coulier, 66, appeared in the today show earlier this month to reveal that it is in treatment for tongue cancer after fighting beforehand non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
“It’s been a roller coaster,” Coulier said Dec. 2. “Going through chemotherapy and feeling the relief of, ‘Wow, it’s gone,’ and then getting a test that says, well, now you have another type of cancer … it’s a shock to the system.”
Coulier announced his initial diagnosis in November 2024. He later confirmed it in March was cancer free.
“It was a really tough year, the chemotherapy was exhausting,” Coulier told the morning show. “A couple of months ago, I had a PET scan and something popped up in the scan. The doctor said, ‘We don’t know what it is, but there’s something at the base of the tongue.’
At first, Coulier’s “painful” biopsy showed no signs of cancer. Another quote in October, however, showed that growth had sprung up again. Coulier had an MRI and a CT scan, which led doctors to do another biopsy that removed a larger portion of her tongue. He was finally diagnosed with early-stage tongue cancer.

“They said it’s totally unrelated to my non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is a new cancer. … I said, ‘Are you kidding me?'” Coulier recalled. “They said it could come from having an HPV virus up until 30 years ago. A lot of people carry the HPV virus, but they said mine was activated and turned into a carcinoma.”
According to Coulier, the disease was caught early enough to be “very treatable.” Doctors suggested she start radiation treatment “immediately.”
“It’s a whole different animal than chemotherapy. It doesn’t feel as aggressive, but there are still side effects,” he said of radiation, noting that he feels “cautiously optimistic” about the process. “The good thing here is that I had cancer, which helped me detect my other cancer. It sounds crazy to make that claim, but it’s true.”
After Coulier’s health update, Stamos’ wife, Caitlin McHugh, shared a message of love via Instagram
