England’s James Morrison returned to the DP World Tour after securing victory at The R&A-backed Rolex Grand Final on Sunday.
England’s Morrison carded a final-round 70 for two under par to reach 15 under par for the week at Club de Golf Alcanada and beat Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli by three shots.
The Surrey native posted a two-under 70 to get to 15 under at Club de Golf Alcanada this week to win by three shots ahead of Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli.
The 40-year-old climbed 30 places in the Road to Majorca rankings to finish the season at No. 6 and guarantee a return to Golf’s Global Tour in 2026.
The two-time DP World Tour winner becomes the seventh Englishman to win a Rolex Grand Final after Mark Penge (2023), Nathan Kimsey (2022), Matt Haynes (2010), James Hepworth (2006), Richard Bland (2001) and Ian Garbutt (1996).
Morrison started the day with a three-shot lead after firing a bogey-free seven-under 65 on the third day, and mixed two birdies with two bogeys on the front nine on Sunday to stay ahead.
Morrison, who had 13-year-old son Finley guiding for him in Majorca, then made three birdies on the four-hole stretch of the 11th to extend his lead, and despite bogeying 18, stayed three clear of the chasing pack.
“When I said this was going to be my last event, it really was going to be 100 percent,” Morrison said. “This has completely disrupted that.”
“I’m glad it’s over. I played well all week. I didn’t play that well today, but I managed my emotions and dug into the memory bank of my wins on the DP World Tour.”
“The wind that was blowing really helped me today because I knew, the harder it got, the more it was going to work in my favor. I knew if I could keep knocking, I could get away from the field a little bit.”
“I stayed calm and stuck with it. I couldn’t feel my hands on my swing at the last minute, it went so far to the right, but I didn’t care. A win is a win.”
JC Ritchie topped the Road to Mallorca rankings and made history in Spain by becoming the first player from South Africa to win the Turkish No. 1 title after finishing seventh at Club de Golf Alcanada.
