President Alassane Ouattara has won re-election in Ivory Coast Presidential votingAccording to the provisional results.
The country’s Independent Election Commission announced on Monday that the 83-year-old incumbent had won a fourth term with 89.77 percent of the vote.

About nine million Ivorians were eligible to vote on Saturday in a race that excluded Ouattara’s top rivals. Former President Laurent Gbagbo was banned for criminal activity and the former CEO of Credit Suisse Tidjane thiam Disqualified from acquiring French citizenship.
The remaining four candidates were not seen as viable contenders, as they lacked major political parties and significant financial resources.

Amid widespread anger at Ouattara’s decision to seek a fourth consecutive term, many defected. Under the Constitution, a president can serve a maximum of two terms, but the president argued that his limit was “reset” by a 2016 constitutional amendment.
