Stevens joins aa long list of celebrities that have moved out of the United States in recent years, many in response to the current Trump administration and the country’s political climate. Former daytime talk show hosts Ellen Degeneres i Rosie O’Donnell both confirmed they moved across the pond as a direct result of Trump’s 2024 re-election.

“(I’m) in the process of getting my Irish citizenship as I have Irish grandparents,” O’Donnell, 63, explained via a TikTok video in January. “And this is what’s happening, and this is where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing. And while I was never someone who thought I’d move to another country, this is what I decided would be best for me and my 12-year-old son. And here we are.”

DeGeneres, meanwhile, told the English station Richard Bacon in July that she and her wife Portia de Rossi “I arrived the day before the election and I woke up to a lot of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He’s in.’ And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.’

DeGeneres also praised the English countryside and how different it is from life in Hollywood.

“We’re not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The towns and the cities and the architecture — everything you see is lovely and it’s just a simpler way of life,” DeGeneres added. “It’s clean. Everything is better here: the way the animals are treated, the people are polite. I love it here.”

Eva Longoria he has also moved between the United States and Spain in recent years, although he had denied that his move was the result of the country’s politics.

“The atmosphere was different,” Longoria said Marie Claire in November 2024, when asked what made her want to leave LA “And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homeless or the taxes, it’s not like I want to shit in California, it feels like that chapter of my life is over.”
