Andy Cohen delivered the news to frozen star Kristen Bell that her son, Benjamin, absolutely hates one of the main characters in the Disney movie.
“My son hates Elsa so much,” Cohen, 57, told Bell, 45, before taping their SiriusXM appearance. Radio Andy on Friday, October 24, according to a video shared via the radio station Instagram. “He’s Anna’s biggest fan. Like it’s so clear to him that Elsa is awful.”
Bell voiced Princess Anna in the 2013 animated film Idina Menzel portrayed Elsa, Anna’s older sister. frozen tells the story of the two princesses navigating their relationship, as Elsa has magical ice powers while Anna does not. After Elsa’s powers nearly kill Anna as a child, she shuts herself down to protect her sister.
Bell, meanwhile, was surprised to learn that 6-year-old Benjamin had such strong feelings about Elsa, who has become one of Disney’s most popular characters.
“I’ve never heard those words,” Bell confessed.
Cohen added that he felt the need to tell her since he was in the movie. But there was one thing Bell couldn’t let go.
“Wait, why is that horrible?” Bell asked.
Cohen then dropped the subject as he and Bell began taping their interview.
Bell has voiced Anna in both frozen and the sequel in 2019. The film also includes Jonathan Groff i Josh Gad as Kristoff and Olaf the Snowman, respectively. Bell will reprise his role alongside Mendel, Groff and Gad Frozen 3which premieres in November 2027. Disney confirmed in 2023 that there will be a fourth frozen movie
Benjamin isn’t the only kid who has mixed feelings about Anna, Elsa, and the rest frozen gang Bell previously admitted that her daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 10, never jumped into the frozen cart
“They definitely appreciate the fact that they can go to college for it, but they’re not part of the Frozen phenomenon,” Bell said of her children’s thoughts on frozen in an October 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Because kids are meant to make you feel terrified and they’re meant to reject things their parents are involved in. Even if they secretly like it, they’d never tell me.”
While Bell’s daughters aren’t impressed that their mom was voicing a Disney princess, it was a dream come true for the Nobody Wants This actress, especially when it came to providing relatable input for the character.
“I said all the Disney princesses look like this, their hands are always perfect, their posture is perfect,” Bell recalled to the network. “I want (Anna) to be the opposite. I want her to wake up drooling and I want her to snore and I want her to talk too much and too fast and wear her heart on her sleeve and trip over things, like the real quirk of a girl who’s lovable but not so together.”
Bell said how grateful he was to be able to contribute to Anna’s personality.
“This whole experience was really collaborative and some of these things they wrote and some they didn’t and they let me take the reins,” he noted. “I still get so much joy when I see it because I’m so proud.”
