Why did everyone speak about freedom?
The state of health care system, social issues, fishing and economies are all mentioned on the election campaign road.
But this is the question of the liberty of Greenland from Denmark who dominates the debate.
Although it is currently semi-awomeous, Greenland is controlled by Denmark – almost 3,000km (1,860 miles) away – for about 300 years.
Naleaerq – Today is the largest opposition party – earns a momentum and promise to hold a snap vote of independence within three to four years.
Other parties are more careful and avoid providing the exact timelines.
Separating Denmark relationships is a large erosion of the Greenland economy, which depends on the fishing sector. Danish subsidy today contributes to more than $ 565m (£ 435m) a year – a fifth economic output or GDP.
“Currently, (Greenland) is not ready for freedom,” The Director of the Bank of Greenland Martin Kviesgaard tells Danish media on the eve of elections. “It will come many years to be fully prepared for it, when you talk about being supportive of self … Fishing is not enough.”

How’s the Trump influence on the debate?
The US president first floats the idea of buying Greenland in 2019, until the end of his first term office.
However, since the beginning of this year, he expressed an interest in claiming the Arctic Island with an adding frequency, in the Alarm of Greenland as well as Denmark.
In January, Trump’s son Donald Jr. Visited Greenland as he said was a “personal day-trip” but that stirred interests that trumps were not just gone.
Greenland is located at the shortest route from North America in Europe, made this strategic reason for the US.
It also has a large facility in American space and reserves of precious minerals that are more proven to be hard to be.
Last week, Trump told the US Congress to “Take us (Greenland) – one way or another”.
So the president’s shadow has become large in this election.
In the last debate of Sunday candidates, five of the six party leaders say they do not believe that the US president can be trusted.
If Greenland later chooses freedom from Denmark, there is freedom to maintain a more intimate relationship and become more exposed to US interests.
So it is not unite that in January Donald Trump that reprimands a 2019 poll indicating 68% of greenlanders supporting freedom from Denmark.
Trump’s comments to Greenland caused the uninterrupted panic in Copenhagen early this year.
Mette Frederiknsen spent most of the talks in the January crisis talking about his government as well as other Scandinavian leaders. He also talked with Trump on the phone over an occasion.
The fierce diploma cooled in recent weeks such as Ukraine and other global issues obtained at the center of Washington center.
But while the greenlanders voted on Tuesday, Danish Minister Minister Lokke Rasmussen made a scary discussion with President Trump, saying “The big power has a different interest in Greenland than before”.
Of course this is important, he added diplomatic, “that Greenland chose some politicians to lead the country through it”.
