peacock has a very strong lineup of movies just arriving in mid-December, including some you may not have seen in theaters.

Some of the best titles available aren’t even Christmas related, which is a great option to have this holiday season.

Our picks include a world-renowned director’s take on his life, the return of a legendary vampire, and an underrated thriller that should have been a monster hit.

‘The Fableman’ (2022)

The Fabelmans it is both and is not the director’s story Steven Spielbergbut apparently it was close enough to his life that he didn’t make the film until both his parents were dead. Gabriel LaBelle stars Sammy Fabelman, the teenage aspiring filmmaker whose parents, Mitzi (Michelle Williams) and Burt Fabelman (Paul Dano), I don’t quite understand his passion for storytelling.

This family has some stories to tell, and through the lens of his camera, Sammy discovers a secret that could tear his parents apart. Love may not be enough to hold the Fabelmans together, but Sammy’s journey is a transformative experience that reshapes the way he sees the world and the people closest to him.

‘Renfield’ (2023)

Do you think your boss is bad? He tries to work for Dracula, as he interprets it Nicolas Cage. The title character of Renfield is played by Nicholas Houltand he’s had enough of Dracula’s abuse and over a century of bug eating. So she begins to separate from her master and attend self-help groups to regain control of her life.

Renfield may not be a vampire, but he has more than enough power to kill some criminals when threatened. He also forms a bond with a human, Officer Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina), which is a new experience for him. But when Dracula discovers what his servant is up to, he won’t let Renfield go. This is a comedy, but Dracula is still as deadly as ever, and Renfield may pay the price for crossing him.

‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ (2011)

Craig had a very different persona as a journalist Mikael Blomkvistwho has recently been disgraced by a libel suit that may ruin his career. Entrepreneur Henrik Vange (Christopher Plummer) may have the evidence Mikael needs to exonerate himself, but first, he wants Blomkvist to solve a mystery that has haunted his family for decades.

This is where the main character, Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), enters history as a force of nature. Lisbeth is a supernatural hacker, but that’s not what makes her special. Mikael recruits Lisbeth to his case because she has a brilliant analytical mind and a ruthless streak that serves him well when dealing with truly evil men. The question is not whether Mikael and Lisbeth will solve the mystery, but whether they will survive an encounter with a killer.
