peacock one of his most important films of recent years returns this weekend.
Twisters it initially premiered at the Peacock in 2024, before leaving for an extended stay Prime Video. It has now returned to its first breeding home, hopefully for a longer period of time.
This film was only the first selection Watch with us‘ roundup of the three best Peacock films to watch this weekend.
Our remaining picks are an older disaster movie and a romantic comedy with a very large cast of familiar faces.
‘Twisters’ (2024)
Twisters opens with the intriguing premise that even some of the worst storms can be potentially harmless. Unfortunately for Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones), his experiment is such a disaster that he leaves his team trapped in the middle of a tornado. Years later, Kate and her colleague, Javi (Anthony Ramos), are the only survivors of that incident. She’s out of the storm game until Javi brings her back in.
In the countryside, the pair meet a storm-chasing influencer, Tyler Owens (Glen Powell). whom Kate initially despises. She believes that Tyler and his team are just using the tornadoes to chase Internet influence and fame. Over time, their position on Tyler softens, and it’s a good thing, too, because the biggest storm they’ve ever seen is on its way. And if Kate and Tyler don’t work together, then people will die.

‘The Perfect Storm’ (2000)
This week, we’re going from tornadoes to hurricanes with the very well-made disaster movie The perfect storm. The film is based on the true story of the Andrea Gail, a fishing boat that went out to sea in 1991 and encountered very dangerous weather. Captain Frank William “Billy” Tyne Jr. (George Clooney) has had a poor season at sea with little to prove. And if this last trip of the season doesn’t work out, then he’ll be in dire straits.
Thanks to the efforts of Robert “Bobby” Shatford (Mark Wahlberg), Dale “Murph” Murphy (John C. Reilly), David “Sully” Sullivan (William Fichtner) and the rest of the crew, Billy can hold his head high as they return to shore with their catch. That is, yes they can go back to shore. While they were on the water, two massive storms combined into an even bigger hurricane. Andrea Gail and her crew are tough, but this is beyond what any boat should have to deal with. That’s when this story turns into a battle for survival.

“Dog Days” (2018)
We could have picked another disaster movie for the third and final movie of the weekend. But after the intensity of The perfect stormthe best way to unwind is with a light and fresh romantic comedy like Days of dogs. Think of it as true love with dogs, as the various stories are loosely connected through the love the characters share for their four-legged friends.
Most of the romantic sparks in this film come from TV host Elizabeth (nina dobrev) and new co-host, Jimmy (Tone Bell), despite initially disagreeing. There is a love triangle between shelter owner Garrett (Jon Bass) and Tara (Vanessa Hudgens), who is dating a vet named Mike (Michael Cassidy). But the most touching relationships are the friendship between pizza delivery boy Tyler (Finn Wolfhard) and an elderly widower, Walter (Ron Cephas Jones), as well as the bond that grows between a married couple, Grace (Eva Longoria) and Kurt (Rob Corddry), and their recently adopted daughter, Amelia (Elizabeth Caro).
