
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that the conflict with the US over Greenland was a “strategic wake-up call for all of Europe”, speaking alongside the leaders of Denmark and the Danish autonomous region. Speaking to FRANCE 24’s Marc Owen, Federico Santopinto, senior research fellow at IRIS, says that “Europe has already had several strategic wake-up calls in the past, but when a new crisis hits, they find that they are still weak and dependent on the United States.”
